The booking system has been introduced to help manage queues and congestion, and to reduce the misuse of sites by commercial vehicles. This is a trial initiative set to last until December 2023.

The Cabinet Office has launched a new system that will give the government and emergency services the capability to send an alert directly to mobile phones when there is a risk to life.
On Sunday 23 April the government will be carrying out a national test in the early evening which will see people receive a test message on their mobile phones. This may be a loud, siren-like sound with a message on people’s mobile phone screen.
People do not need to do anything when they receive the message – this is just a test.
