You may have seen in the news that the British Medical Association announced GP collective action which came info effect at the beginning of the month.
This may mean that some GP’s will change the way their practices work but they will still be open and they will continue to see patients.
If your GP practice plans to make any changes to the services they provide, they will get in touch with you and inform you.
You can also use 111 online for health needs, or call 999 if it is a serious or life-threatening emergency.
Your local pharmacist may also be able to offer treatment and some prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP.
Braintree District Council are in the process of refreshing our Local Plan, which is a crucial document for deciding where businesses and homes will be located and ensuring protection of green spaces and heritage.
The council’s current Local Plan is designed to run until 2033 but has to be reviewed and updated, if necessary, at least every five years and so we need to start a review now in order to complete it by 2025, submit to the planning inspectorate for examination in 2025 and adoption in 2026.
The review of the Local Plan will extend its timeframe from 2033 to 2041 looking at growth options post 2033 to meet evolving longer-term needs of communities and changing national planning guidance and best practice.

BDC are keen for residents and businesses to be involved throughout the review process and share their feedback to help shape the district’s future.
If you have an idea or suggestion on what you would like to be considered in the Local Plan, identifying opportunities up to 2041, then we’d love for you to share your views with us.
This could include housing, employment, green spaces, transportation, infrastructure, community and education facilities, land they would like to see protected, or any other aspect of the community – in towns, surrounding villages and rural areas.
Write to the team by post to: Planning Policy, Braintree District Council, Causeway House, Bocking End, Braintree, Essex CM7 9HB.
Feedback can be shared until 5pm on Friday 16th August 2024.
Comments will be considered by the council in preparing the draft Local Plan document ahead of further wider public consultation with residents, businesses and communities later this year and in 2025.
A full planning application for the development of 84 dwellings is to be submitted to Braintree District Council in the coming months for a site in Boars Tye Road, Silver End (outline permission had already been granted). Whilst this site is not within Cressing Parish boundary, it is very close. The site owners will be hosting an on-line video briefing on 3rd September. We do not have final details for connecting to the call, but if any resident of Cressing wishes to view, please email the Parish Clerk for details: clerk@cressing-pc.gov.uk
For months the Parish Council has been pushing both Bellway (the developers) and their management company to attend to the footpath from Mill Lane that runs parallel with Bulford Mill Lane to the station. We have received the following information from Bellway today:
“By way of an update, the works (grass a edge cutting) should be awarded this week (w/c 5th August) and I have requested that the verge clearance is carried out as a priority.
I also wanted to update you on some additional repair works we’re carrying out to the footway for it to be of a suitable condition for adoption by Essex County Council. Due to some significate cracking and failures, we need to fully reconstruct the middle section. The works duration is approximately 3 weeks and during this time we will need to close the footway. We’re looking to start the 16th September.”
As the footpath has not been handed over to Essex Highways yet, there may be no advance warning of the footpath closure. This information will be updated with any further information received from Bellway.
